1. Initiative for Adolescents Girls Education and Empowerment : ( 2021 to Continue )

Initiative for adolescents girls education and empowerment is implemented in 50 village of tijara block of alwar district for adolescents girls education and empowerment from Dec. 2021.

The over-arching goal of the project is to empower adolescent girls of most vulnerable section of the rural society by ensuring them quality education through positive social change in 50 villages of one block (Tijara) in Alwar district. Project Cover One lack Population and 25000 Adolescents Girls belong to 10-18 years directly. Total Population of targeted 50 villages are 79693 and adolescents girls population will be 17500 approximately. We have worked earlier in tijara blocks having 5 years of duration for strengthening of school elementary education of disadvantage children and community mobilisation for ownership of village level institutions.

Key Objectives:

1. To build enabling gender sensitive, child-friendly and non-discriminatory social environment for girls education in rural community and schools.
2. To impart age-appropriate learning competencies / skills to 850 out-of-school adolescent girls and 80% of them are to mainstream in age appropriate grade for completion of school education. All of these girls belong to 10-18 age group i.e. Middle and secondary age groups.
3. To provide academic support to 750 low performing girls who will be enrolled in xth grade , especially at risk of failure for their secondary level education by organizing remedial classes to improve their study and examination skills and link them with public examination system through secondary board or open school system.
4. To impart life skills and leadership development to 3000 adolescent girls (aged 10 to 18 years) and strengthening their Kishori Manchs (Adolescent girls forums which will be formed under project) in at least 80% of the project villages for establishing dignity of girls and women in rural society.
5. To work towards policy reformation supportive to deprived girls and women through networking and advocacy with key stakeholders (influencing persons, government, CSOs, youth and women’s groups).

Achievement:

  • 3000 adolescents girls group in 50 village based Adolescents Girls Collective
  • 1133 out of school adolescents Girls mainstream into Open schooling through Adolescents Girls learning center
  • 1069 girls enrolled at secondary grade in govt. schools achieving age appropriate learning level
  • 3267 adolescents girls receive life skills session at village level
  • 100 girls leaders take up the leadership in their respective village and strengthening girl collective at their village.
  • 3000 community members of Mewat Shiksha Panchayat work for create enabling environment in their locality for adolescents Girls education and empowerment.
2. Initiative for Better Tomorrow Project ( Better Tomorrow) ( 2016 to Continue )

Initiative for Better Tomorrow Project (Better Tomorrow ) is implemented by AMIED in 25 Village of Kishangarhbas Block of Alwar district. Main focus of Better Tomorrow is stop child marriage through children’s Education and create positive environment of children’s education. Under this project we focus on community mobilization on children’s education specially Girls education , strengthening Govt. schools , Capacity Building of Girls Group namely Mewat Balika Manch on Life skills and leadership ,providing support of subject specific of board examination ( English /Maths /Science ) Youth Sensitization and taking sessions on Sath –Sath with technical support of Avehi Abacus Mumbay. Programme were start from Jan. 2016 and continue. Capacity building of Mewat shiksha Panchyat on Early child Marriage of Child Marriage through meetings , workshops and seminars.Currently 220 Girls associated with Mewat Balika Manch ,they regularly meet once in a month and share their problems and achievement.

The overall objective of this project is to provide to persons in the 11-18 age groups who are associated or deprived of school education an opportunity for holistic education in order that they realize their own potential and simultaneously to equip them to contribute to the process of social transformation. Within this broad framework the Quantative and qualitative impacts in the mewat area due to project activities are as under :

• 2033 girls rejoin schools / education after reopen schools which is closed due to COVID-19.
• Increase educational levels of 3500 adolescents girls through learning centers and subject specific support of boards students specially girls ( Remedial Education ).
• Increase girls age of marriage ,with obvious correlation for their retention in education , delaying child birth, and mortality and morbidity among the newborns.
• Dropout rate of girls from schools /college education will be decrease and retention rate is increase in Mewat area of Rajasthan.
• Mewat shiksha Panchyat understand about importance of education and impacts of early age marriage on adolescents life, they aware community at large to engage girls in education and not married in early age.,
• Mewat Balika manch( Adolescents girls forum) which having 1734 girls emerge a plateform for adolescents for sitting together, identify out of school girls and try to mainstream into education system through formal and nonformat education system and discuss about life skills and a support structure in mewat for school /college going or non going Girls.
Sexual and reproductive Health training receive all adolescents children, so that they know about their body and aware about sexual and reproductive health and hygiene.

3. Shiksha Avom Surekhsa Initiative : ( Oct. 2022 to Continue )

UNICEF has worked with AMIED in 20 villages of the Mewat region of Alwar covering both strategies – out-of-school girls and in-school potential OoS children. This cover – (1) running girls’ camps and preparing them for open school, and (2) transacting a package for potential OoS but in-school children enabling them to successfully complete their 10th and 12th board examinations. AMIED provided tutorial support to potential dropouts in grades 9 and 10 for acquiring class-appropriate competencies and running adolescent learning centres for out-of-school girls. Based on the previous interventions with adolescents in and out of schools, besides learning support, the need to support adolescents required support in the prevention of rampant abuse and exploitation of girls and enable the building of a safe and protective environment for children.

In this backdrop, UNICEF aims to continue and expand the partnership with AMIED to work in Mewat and Dang region, i.e. selected areas of Alwar and Karauli. The partnership will enable to co-create a model for the state, which can respond to the educational and protection needs of OOSC in ages of 15 to 18 years. UNICEF will focus on system strengthening by –

• demonstrating learning support of OOSC for open schooling,
• explore flexible & innovative strategies for special training, and
• extend remedial learning support in school for potential dropout students
• integrate issues of child rights and protection in the learning package and strengthen existing school and community-based platforms to empower vulnerable children
• create positive and enabling environment by engaging community and parents

Implementation Strategy & Technical Guidance:

Overall Objective
An enabling ecosystem for quality education and protection for children with a focus on the potential dropout and dropout adolescent girls of the Mewat region.

Outputs
1. Potential dropout adolescents identified and demonstrate improved level of learning outcomes with specific focus on safety
2. Communities (Parents and local stakeholders) are equipped to support the adolescents to participate in education and realise their right to protection
3. School systems strengthened at the district level with support from Siksha panchayat
4. Child protection services strengthened in the districts through capacity enhancement of CPC, CWC,DCPUs,police.
5. Enabling environment for adolescent girls strengthened through continuous advocacy with district administration, political leaders, Mewat Development Board, Folk platforms.

Approx coverage would be
• Over all over 100,000 people across 100 villages in 4 blocks and 2 districts (Alwar and Karauli) of Rajasthan have adequate knowledge and understanding of importance of education and protection rights of Children.( age group)
• 1000 potential dropout adolescent girls and boys from 9th and 10th grade of 10 govt. Sr. Secondary Schools.
• 750 out-of-school adolescent girls associated through 10 adolescent girls learning centers.
• 3500 adolescents girls, trained on life skills, financial literacy, safety against violence and exploitation ( bad touch -good touch, sexual violence early child marriage,gn gender-based violence safety, and security, mental health etc) associated with adolescent collectives n the age group of 14 to 21
• 100 Panchayat level Child Protection Committes from 100 gram Panchyat
• 100 Adolescents girl collectives.

4. METSO MODEL SCHOOL PROJECT ( 2013 to 2022 )
Supported by : PLAN India and METSO

Metso Wash + Project is implemented by AMIED in MIA area of alwar district nearby District headquarter in 15th School for creating and functioning of Wash Facilities with active supported by SMC in 2013 with support by Plan India and Metso Minerals . Strengthening SMC for grounding RTE in real sense and minimize Dropout rate and Increase girls retention in school. In 2016 Second phase are started with extension of 10 New schools specially Secondary and Senior Secondary schools situated at Panchyat headquarter which is known as Adasrh schools.We started second phase as Model School Project covering 25 schools in Umrain and Ramgarh block of Alwar district of Rajasthan State.Under this project we established Science and Maths Lab, Library cum learning rooms ,Computer lab ,Providing Sports material , Students Furniture , Solar Panels installation ,Smart classes, KYan ,and Bala Activities including Strengthening of SMC/SDMC and Children’s forum as well as capacity Building of Teachers on fear free learning , use of library , Life skills and community Involvement.Project. Currently project Known as Model School Project and covering 25 schools and One Girls Hostel in Ramgarh and Umrain Block of Alwar district.Project coverup 7832 children including 4327 girls.

5. Mewat Academy of School Education (MASE) : (2016 to Continue )
Supported by Community , Nasim Foundation USA and Taz and Zakir Syed Family Foundation USA

Mewat Academy of School Education (MASE) is also running by AMIED in Ghansoli Village in Kishangarh bas Block of Alwar District in Rajasthan state in India. MASE is recognized by Education Department of Govt of Rajasthan up to Sr. Secondary level of Hindi and English Medium. Academy started in June 2016 with 273 children and currently having 504 children including 139 girls . Income source of Maximum parents are agriculture, driver. Economic condition of these parents is very weak and not able to support schools. Schools having 21th qualified teachers . Schools welcome deprived sections of Girls and children’s from economically poor conditions. Pedagogy of our school is child centric and activity based. We search some donors for support us as minimum of 3-5 years. Nasim Foundation USA and Taz and Zakir Syed Family Foundation USA support us for digital education and STEM education. With their support we develop Science lab -Physics, Chemistry and Biology , Computer lab /Digital lab in Mewat Academy of School Education.

6. Childline Sapotra : 2018 to Continue

Child Line sub center is running by AMIED in Sapotra block of Karouli district with support of Child Line India Foundation for protection of Child rights from July 2020.

7. Girls Secondary Education and Scholarship : ( 2020 to 2022 )
Supported by IPE Global Ltd.

Girls Secondary Education and scholarship of Dalit , Tribal and Obc Girls Project implemented in 170 village of 5 Blocks of Karouli, Alwar , Ajmer , Sikar and Sirohi districts. Main Objectives of this project are as Under

a. Free and Complusory Secondary Education of All girls belong to dalit , tribal , OBC and Minority girls

b. Increase scholarship amount by appropriate govt. to meat out all the necessary requirement of girls to complete their school education.Project were started from Oct. 2020 with the support of IPE Global Ltd. Coverage of this project are 6200 adolescents girls belong to 5 districts having 331 girls leaders.

Currently more than 5000 adolescents girls joining Adolescents Girls Network namely ‘Rajasthan Rising “ for Adolescents Education and Empowerent.
